Desert Rose Resort - Las Vegas

This complex was such a find ! i have food intolerances and wanted to try self catering (have been 8 times to vegas now and stayed in all large hotels and got annoyed at the cost of buffets that i cannot eat hardly anything from!) we stayed in 1 bedroom suite. excellent room - really clean and well kept. great kitchen area, proper cooker, microwave, huge fridge freezer, sink, pots pans etc toaster and blender - EVERYTHING! bargain price as well. breakfast laid on by hotel each morning which most people took back to suite and ate. it was located behind mgm next to tropicana car park (can walk through car park straight onto strip), yes there was alot of walking - but dont go to vegas and not expect to walk! could park car right outside room and you were just left alone . Only three downsides ; breakfast is a free for all - and isnt on for long enough - however just go in get what you need and leave, two pool area could do to be bigger, sun beds are all gone by 9am - get there quick and three air con in our room was very old and was really noisy and clunky so either on or off as it woke you up when it cut in. BUT these points aside it was fab and i will be going back next time (its a non gaming property). i wanted to do vegas my way (having been alot before)- quiet poolside days doing my own thing and my choice to explore hotels and casinos at night and not have to stay in them.

This was an excellent place to rest if you have to be in Las vegas. we were en route to the grand canyon and chose this for its non-gaming envorinment and for the space ( 2 bedroom apartment) to unwind on our long road trip. It served us v well. The complimentary cocktail hour and breakfast were limited in variety but just fine, considering its free. Pool on the small side, so got quite crowded at busy times. Short walk from MGM & the Strip

The Desert Rose Resort is an ok resort, a solid 3* property but no more. The pool is very basic compared to some of the other hotels in the area, but this is reflected in the price you pay. The location of the property is pretty good, close to the MGM and the attractions of the strip. Internally the rooms are pretty good and very well equipped. The only negative comment is that they (or my room) was showing some signs of age. But this is only a very minor negative. Service at check-in and check-out was faultless from the front desk staff. Overall the Desert Rose offers excellent value for money compared to other suite rooms in the other hotels, just don't expect it to be on a par with other hotels scoring the same rating.

I found this place online and based my decision to stay here on the reviews it received. I was not disappointed. Upon arrival I notice how close(walking distance)it was to the strip. Checking in was quick and simple and the staff was very friendly. There were six of us in a 2 bedroom 2 bath suite and when we entered the room we were very happy. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep and put away their belongings. The room was clean and we had a balcony that faced the parking lot which was nice too. They offered a simple breakfast in the morning which was good so you can eat a little something before going out for the day. Although we did not use the pool during the day, it appeared to get full quickly so it's a good idea to get there early to get a seat. We went to the pool on our last night in the late evening and it was pretty much empty and the family and I had a great time. I would definitely stay here again. If you are looking for a family friendly place or something that doesn't have a casino this is the place to stay.

Clean and spacious rooms, perfect location - good choice for families. The only But significant) minus is the breakfast they serve. Thy definitely did not intend to provide any food when the build the hotel, so they do not have designated space for it - you will wait in long line in the lobby and will fight for place to seat when you finaly got your tost and cereal.

Combination of homey rooms, good breakfast and afternoon snacks + wine/beer and reasonable price are hard to beat. Quite place as well.

We stayed at the Desert Rose for 3 separate one-night stays on a recent trip through the West. As a non-smoking, non-gambling hotel in Las Vegas, it was a treat to stay here! The atmosphere was family oriented and low key. The suites were very spacious, clean, and modern. they had a living room with a pull-out sofa bed, dining table that seats four, kitchen, and separate bedroom and bathroom in the 1-bedroom suite. The 2-bedroom suite had two full bathrooms, one reached through the bedroom and one in the hall. The kitchen included a full-size refrigerator and stove as well as dishes, silverware, pots & pans, and cooking utensils. In addition, breakfast was provided daily in the common area. The staff was very accomodating.

This was a great hotel/suite especially for the price. We will definitely stay at this location when going to vegas. It is close to the strip and exceptional with quality.

I went as a party group with about 20 friends and family and the stay was perfect! the location, the room the staff was great!!!

I booked a 2-bedroom suite for a great price [50% off at the time!] and was so glad I did. The suite was excellent, which is an understatement. The kitchen was equipped with everything I could have needed, and the two bathrooms were appreciated when everyone wanted to take a shower in the mornings. I also fully enjoyed their clean and well-lit fitness room, which had 3 treadmills, a bike, an elliptical, and some weight machines. The hotel is not on the strip, but only slightly off of it, which makes it a great place to stay if you don't want all of the noise and lights all the time. I also enjoyed their complementary breakfast very much -- lots of options! My only regret was that I stayed for just one night. Highly highly recommend, especially the suites.

Good hotel, nice rooms with kitchen, great breakfast and evening social hours. The service was extremely good. Close to the strip, nice location. The hotel staff is very friendly and checked in 2 hours before the check-in and didn't charged. The other hotels never allow before the check in time. The stay was really good. My whole family enjoyed the stay.

This was great place for our family because there was plenty of room in the 2 bedroom for everyone to have their own space. The location was great, easy parking. We had a view of the Tropicana, Luxor and Mandalay Bay from our balcony. Since we were not into the gambling aspect of Las Vegas and walking through smoke in the casinos this was resort was ideal. Nice pool with BBQ's to use if you want to cook up a steak or something. Kitchen was fully equipped. We used the really nice fitness room. On the down side, the carpet was dirty and the living room couch was worn. We would definitely stay here again because it was a good deal.

two bedrooms and a pull out sofa bed made it very nice for the family to have thier own spaces. front of the hotel faces away from the strip so ask for one of the back rooms to see the strip. over all very happy.

The Desert Rose was an excellent place to stay right off the strip for a non-gambling family. The breakfast was great, much better than your typical continental breakfast. The kitchenette was very handy to have with kids, pool was nice, service was good. For the money it was a great bargain. I would go there again and look for other locations of the same brand.

Perfect place for us who don't gamble. Quiet. Safe. Comfy beds. LARGE 2 bedroom 2 full bath suite fully furnished with everything you would need for an extended stay. Family friendly. Daily housekeeping. Within short walking distance to strip. Great FREE breakfast bar every morning. And FREE afternoon snacks and drinks. Pool was a little chilly. And our carpet was a bit dingy which left the bottoms of our feet filthy but I guess to be a little expected with all the walking done on the dirty sidewalks. Would definitely stay here again though! Can't beat the price for what you get!

Just returned from Desert Rose yesterday. What a fantastic place. The 1 bed apartment was spacious, clean and lovely. Kitchen was fully equipped. All public areas were clean and tidy. This is an oasis in a crazy mad place where you can get some peace away from the strip. It is a 5 minute walk to the back entrance to MGM and from there you can get the monorail so those people that moan that it is too far away from the strip need to get walking. The staff were really helpful and we booked a helicopter tour through the conceriege which was fantastic. We will definatley stay here again.

We all felt very happy of the choice we made! The 2 bedroom suite was perfect for us and the kitchen had everything and more. My brother who stayed in Mandalay Bay was impressed to how good we had it for the price we payed! We were there for a wedding and all our family members who stayed in different places are planning on staying in Desert Rose Resort next time!

We booked this hotel after reading previous reviews. Stayed in a two-bedroomed unit which was great with loads of space, kitchen, living/dining room. Pool area was lovely and grounds well kept. Downsides were the deliveries made at 6.30am each morning which woke us up as we had a suite at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was included but was a bit of a rammy with not enough seats - we took ours back to the room. If you want a central location, don't stay here, we felt we had to walk quite a bit just to get to the strip which in temperatures over 100 degrees was quite tough going! Overall this was a great hotel and it was good to get away from the madness of the strip but if you want to 'do' the strip it is not in the best location.

Good Hotel, not worth what I paid per night. No Dvd players in the bedrooms nor the living room. No King Size beds only Queen, including the sofa. Great pool, Excellent full kitchen in suite. Great customer service all around from from desk to housekeeping. Deposit for incidentals at time of check in was a suprise, but I got it back. Had a family of 5 (2 adults, 1 teen, 2 toddlers) plenty of room for everyone.

Stayed for 7 nights and loved it! It is close to the strip without all the noise and confusion. You can walk right over to MGM, Hooters and several other places easily! If you want to go on up north, get right on the mono-rail at MGM. It stops at 6 different places along the way. Front desk was very helpful and friendly. We flew Southwest and the day before we were to fly out they got on the computer for us and printed out our boarding passes like it was no trouble at all. The smoke detector in our room beeped one night due to a low battery and when told they were there to fix it within 5 minutes! Free drinks and snacks in the evening was a nice touch too. We went to many other hotels on the strip while there and I can tell you that I would rather stay at Desert Rose anytime! If you prefer noise and crowds I guess you may like the strip but if you want to come back to a quiet and comfortable place, stay at the Desert Rose!

Excellent location, within easy and safe walking distance to LV Strip and Monorail. 1 bedroom suite was very well-kept, and kitchen was exceptionally equipped for cooking meals. Breakfast was very good, and evening reception was nice. Very secure facility. Good pool area, with exception of jerks who leave their towels on chairs after they've left, as if it's the staff's responsibility to pick up after them and try and figure out who's left and who's still in the pool. Excellent staff in office and maintenance. Any future trip to LV will be taken here, unless Mandalay is giving out free rooms.

A tremendous value and excellent location, just a short walk to MGM and the LV Strip. Walter the clerk who checked us in was very helpful in terms of introducing us to the facility and services available. We needed help with the safe the first day, and were taken care of promptly. The pool was well maintained, except for the jerks who don't bother to pick up the towels the hotel provides when they leave. The breakfast buffet was very good, as was the evening reception. The kitchen in the unit was well stocked for doing your own cooking. All in all, this will be the place we come to on any future Las Vegas trip.

I thought the Desert Rose Resort was great, nice size condo style apratment fully frunished, the free continental breakfest was pretty good, actually the best one i been to yet. The location was not bad either, it is a little walk but your really not that far from the Vegas strip, The Desert Rose is located right next to Hooters Hotel and across the street from the MGM hotel. The bed was comfy and the pool was nice, the only probablem i had was with the refrigerator, the freezer smelled really bad and kinda gave the room a ordor, but other then that it wasn't bad and i will go there again.

We had a car and did some shopping off the strip. We saw shows on the strip and did some dining there too. This location was perfect and we liked the ambiance better than a big high rise where you have to deal with casinos- the smells, the darkness, etc. The only thing we would have liked was to use the pool - we chose not to because there were so many kids and with the swine flu going around..... Overall we'd recommend it - a good deal for the price!

My husband and I arrived there for our honeymoon, as we had just gotten married,so we were hoping that this place wasnt gonna be a dive or something!! All we can say is we were completly taken by surprise it was so beautiful and clean, we were practically in tears becuz we did not expect it to be as nice. Anyways it is such a great deal for the money and not to mention during the week they have 5-7pm happy hour as well as a great continental breakfast every morning!! We are definitly going back on "our" 1 year anniversary.

Room was spotless, and the layout was great, separate bedroom and full kitchen with all dishes and utensils. private balcony, granite countertops. really nice pool area with tables and chairs as well as chaise loungers. Nice snack and beverage "happy hour" in the evening, and continental breakfast with bagels and starbucks coffee. Really an upscale place, and with such a great price from hotels.com, it was unbeatable value.

This was just the right thing for our first trip to Vegas with our 9-year old. Close, but not too close to the strip, and with none of its nastiness. The room was great, free breakfast & drinks at happy hour, a nice pool, very secure. It was really an oasis from the craziness a couple of blocks away. We would definitely stay again.

This was a great place to stay. My family with four people stayed for four nights here and were very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and loved two bedrooms suite. We felt like at home away from home. The pool was decent without a water fall feature, the TV(s) were old and TV cable was not clear, which all were not pleased my kids. However, the breakfast was extra credit for us. The hotel is just right by the Tropicana, MGM and Hooters but quite, safe and comfortable for family stay at the Desert Rose. We would stay this resort again for next time with newer TV(s).

Room was ready when we arrived about a half hour after check-in time. Check-in was quick. We were on third floor, in a two bedroom suite, room was quiet except for our air conditioner and the one from next room (necessary evils!) Pool was not heated and nothing special, but was big enough and felt good in that heat! Also, it was open late, till 11 pm. The kids loved it. There were grills near the pool, never saw anyone using them. Kitchen appliances were high quality and very clean. Had read reviews mentioning cockroach problems in rooms, but there were none in mine. Did see some around hotel at night, and one near door in lobby during breakfast. Plenty of parking, convenient drive to Luxor to park and go down strip from there. Breakfast was mostly toast, bagels, fruit like apples and bananas, wrapped muffins or danishes, hard-boiled eggs, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, granola, cereal, instant oatmeal, cocoa, coffee, and juices. You could get a free copy of USA Today by the phones. Breakfast did get crowded, but we always found some place to sit, or you could take it back to the room. They had a happy hour from 5-7 in afternoon with snacks and drinks, but we were never really around for that. Appreciated the free wireless internet greatly! There was also a computer with internet available in the lobby. Beds were comfortable, master bedroom shower was big and had four extra jets (two would work at a time). There were plenty of drawers and closets. Deck was convenient for hanging out swimsuits and pool toys. At some of the doors, the key card took several tries to work. Appreciated the fact that there was no slot machines, felt like coming home at the end of the day. Check-out at the end of five days was also painless and quick. We loved the room and would definitely stay again!

This was our first trip to Las Vegas and I was exceptionally pleased with our choice of this wonderful off-strip resort. It was the right size, had the right amenities and was certainly the right price. I will choose this resort again when staying in Las Vegas

If you're willing to trade worn carpets and couches for a great location, this is the place. This is right by the MGM and overall a nicely redone place...in fact I would stay there again in a second. You really get a lot for a money -- but there is some wear on the rooms -- but location and the staff were top notch. I am pickey where my family stays and because of security I felt very safe and comfortable at the Desert Rose.

The Desert Rose was by far the best hotel I have stayed at since I've been going to Vegas. They have a complimentary cocktail hour on weekdays where you get free snacks, beer, and wine, and a great continental breakfast (if you can wake up for it.) The staff was very friendly, and we were given a welcome call about an hour after we checked in. The room was very clean and spacious, and the decor was very luxurious. There were two rooms, one with it's own bath which was very nice, and the kitchen had a full supply of plates, glasses, utensils, and pots and pans. It was a very comfortable room, and it felt like home the whole time. I am definately making this my "go to" hotel for Vegas! This is also a great place to stay if you are going with a large group because it is so comfortable and spacious that everyone will fit. Definately worth more than the price!

We stayed in Desert Rose Resort after spending a few nights at MGM Grand. Each style of stay represented very different ways to enjoy Las Vegas. Contrary to our original expectations, we ended up walking more distance staying at MGM, because we had to walk a long distance to the hotel pool and nearby hotels. We never managed to go further north than Paris. Staying at Desert Rose we had rented a car, so it was a piece of cake to drive up to hotels in northern strip, such as Circus Circus and Venetian. You only have to walk from the parking lot to the destination in the hotel you parked. If you want to drink alcohols the picture would be different, but for us this hotel offered a very enjoyable alternative experience to staying in a large hotel along the strip.

We absolutely loved this hotel. It's perfect for us because it is just off the strip but close enough to walk to places. The staff is friendly and nice and always helpful when we had questions. My only negative comment was the carpets. Our carpet looked very worn and it was dirty. They need to clean the carpet at least once a month. But in my opinion, this is typical of any hotel. So it doesn't change my mind and I would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were in Vegas with a large group for a wedding. The only complaint we had was that we asked that our 4 rooms be placed together and that they not be on the street side because of the noise. Three of the rooms were placed together (not on the street side) but our room was not with the other 3 and was placed on the street side. We called several weeks in advance to request this. When we asked the front desk if we could move our room closer to the others, the response was basically "too bad" and nothing was done. Otherwise, it was a perfect room for groups. We enjoyed the pool and amenities. We utilized and enjoyed the full kitchen.Other than the front desk staff, the rest of the staff was friendly and helpful. We were a short distance from the strip where several other family memebers were staying. All in all it was a good experience and we would stay there again.

This hotel was awesome. The rooms were clean and spacious and the staff was extremely polite. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I absolutely loved staying here! I had looked for a long time at a lot different Hotels in Las Vegas and just happened onto this one. I was so excited when I pulled up and saw it actually looked like the pictures online. The staff was very helpful and smiled and seemed genuinely happy to see us. I had two other families that came with us that were equally happy with it as well. I can't honestly think of anything I didn't like about it and now I know exactly where I will stay every time I go to Vegas. This Hotel is a great place for families it's just off the strip but within walking distance to the strip. It is secure, has huge rooms, a great pool, snacks and breakfast is provided for you too. The concierge service is wonderful and definitely knows how to assist you in navigating Vegas.

This is a timeshare hotel. The rooms were very nice suites. The pool is fine, but the pool deck is way too small considering the number of children. The air conditioning units of our suite and the surrounding suites were noisy.
